Product Description
The best-selling nursing drug handbook for 30 years is now in its fully updated 2010 edition. Organized by therapeutic class, Nursing2010 Drug Handbook provides quick access to current, accurate information on over 900 generic and 3,000 brand-name drugs. This edition includes black box warnings where appropriate, an expanded combination drug section, vaccine immunization schedules, and more than 1,350 additions, changes, and updates on indications, dosages, and administration. The monographs are consistently formatted for ease of use, and they focus on the practical information that practicing nurses need. Each monograph consists of generic and trade names, pronunciation key, pregnancy risk category, pharmacologic class, controlled substance schedule (if applicable), available forms, indications and dosages, administration (with drug incompatibilities for I.V. drugs), action (including tables showing route, onset, peak, duration, and half-life), adverse reactions, interactions, effects on lab test results, contraindications, nursing considerations, and patient teaching. A companion Web Toolkit will include FDA warnings, new drug and herb updates, medication administration and safety videos, dosage calculators, patient teaching aids, pharmacology animations, English-Spanish audio medical phrases, NCLEX®-style questions, and CE activity.

A drug book that's easy to digest. August 12, 2009 bodymending 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
As a healthcare worker who works in a hospital, I see this book (and its various editions) on just about every floor- whether it be the cardiac floor, neurology floor, or the orthopedic floor. The point is that the scope of this book is so large and complete, that it will be a handy reference to everybody who treats patients, no matter what the diagnosis. So if you're looking for a small, complete drug reference- this is your book. Also recommend "The Sixty-Second Motivator" for tips on how to increase patient compliancy with taking meds.
A reliable classic drug manual July 11, 2009 Classy Grandma (Wisconsin) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
As a retired nurse I buy one of these every 5 years to have a recent resource on hand. It is simple, direct and gives the necessary information for administration, dosage and side effects. The online resource is handy.
Best drug book for nurses! December 15, 2009 Sussa (Arizona) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is one of the best of all the drug books available...simple to use, straightforward with all information needed on dosage, side effects, drug interactions, etc. I would not be without it, believe me! And, best of all, Amazon had it at a great price!
